Report: An end to ACA tax credits to increase uncompensated care costs in Tenn. by nearly one-third  • Tennessee Lookout Tennessee hospitals may see a 29% increase in uncompensated care costs if Congress lets enhanced health insurance marketplace subsidies to expire.

In Tennessee, more than 500,000 low- and moderate-income Tennesseans rely on ACA tax credits for their health coverage.

Republicans want to let these credits expire and make insurance more expensive. Democrats don't. THAT'S why the shutdown is happening.

Resolution To ‘Reject’ National Guard Deployment Fails The resolution would have allowed the city to file a lawsuit against the guard if they act unconstitutionally.

With Trump deploying the National Guard and Gov. Lee welcoming it with open arms, members of the Memphis City Council introduced a resolution to interrupt the deployment - but it failed.

What do YOU think about Trump targeting Memphis and this resolution?

The TN GOP works hard - so we have to work smart. We're in this for the long haul and won't take their efforts to silence use sitting down.

In 2025, the PEACE Act, which has been widely criticized as being anti-protest legislation, became law.

It has vague language around “intent to intimidate”, which could easily be used to target protestors, demonstrators, or anyone expressing dissent in a way someone doesn’t like.

After the protests, the house also adopted stricter rules for debate and “member conduct” in special sessions which are also designed to suppress dissent.

Also in 2023, Rep. Jones and Rep. Pearson (members of the “Tennessee Three”) were expelled from the state legislature for “disorderly behavior” after protesting and demanding stricter gun control laws.

Rep. Jones later sued the House speaker for suppressing his speech.

In 2023, the TN state legislature passes the first-in-the country drag show ban.

The language is so broad and vague that it allows government officials to censor performers based on their own subjective views, a direct threat to our 1A rights.

In 2022, the TN legislature passed the Age Appropriate Materials Act, which the TN ACLU decried as “oppressive and vague policies, which threaten free speech in schools and classrooms.”

In 2020, a bill targeting protesters and free speech in response to ongoing protests outside the state capitol became law.

“Tennessee has chosen to turn a blind eye to the reasons the protests are happening and is instead choosing to shut down the right of the people to protest.” - TN ACLU

The suppression of free speech we’re seeing around the country is terrifying.

In Tennessee, we’re no stranger to these tactics — the GOP has been tamping down on free speech for years in our state. A thread 🧵

Funds from Blue Tennessee go DIRECTLY to nominees - meaning that $$ gets spent by downballot Dems in red districts, which is only possible because of members (and future members - people like YOU!)

We create big, people-powered communities of blue dots just like you who want to support these folks who are stepping up to run in Tennessee.

Our members kick in a few bucks a month so that together, over time, our collective impact is MASSIVE.

We lift up nominees fighting against fascism in their own backyards - not despite the fact that their races are darn-near-impossible - but BECAUSE they are.

We're unique in WHO we fund and HOW we fund them.

Blue Tennessee is fighting to take back the future of our state. What does that mean? We're glad you asked!👇

Blue TN crowdfunds for underfunded Dems running for state legislature.

We intentionally fund those who have the fewest resources running in the reddest districts.

We boost underdogs.

The list goes on and on - and Tennesseans deserve better.

This Labor Day, we’re grateful for those fighting for our workers - and we’re here to help elect more legislators who will champion worker’s rights!

The Tennessee GOP says it supports workers, but their actions say otherwise.

Gov. Lee urged VW workers not to unionize.

Sen. Blackburn introduced a bill that would prohibit federal employees from joining unions.

The TN legislature banned automatic payroll dues deductions for teachers.

Democrat Catelin Drey wins Iowa Senate special election, breaking Republican supermajority National and state support from Republicans and Democrats poured into the race for Iowa Senate District 1 with the GOP supermajority in the balance.

🚨This is huge - Democrat Catelin Drey flipped an open Iowa Senate seat (in a district that Trump carried by double digits last year), breaking the GOP supermajority in the state!🚨

Change is possible. And with your help, change is coming to Tennessee.

“In my country, we are fighting like hell for the democracy we once took for granted...

Art is the crucible that brings people together.
Art looks for truth.
Art embraces diversity.

That’s why art is a threat. That’s why we are a threat to autocrats & fascists.”
