This is what oligarchy looks like:

If you're Elon Musk, the richest man alive, Tesla gives you a $1 trillion pay package & Trump gives you a huge tax break.

If you're a poor kid on SNAP, Trump appeals a court decision that would have prevented you from going hungry.

Obscene.

I loved the West Wing storyline about this, actually. Sam keeps trying to convince the party they need to pour money into races they know they’ll lose because it energizes the state and local parties to see the Dems actually get in the game and draft someone with something to say

Is a 62 point lead a lot? because I’m concerned that massive wins of this sort will cause Democrats to learn the wrong lesson that standing up for principles and people and getting votes is more politically successful than spending 50 years trying to make a family of imaginary bigots like you.

This is why Chuck has NO REASON to come back to the table. Let them twist. If you're coming back with wins this big during a shutdown, the people know where their bread is buttered. Don't throw them a lifeline. These aren't tiny margin wins. They're blowouts.

It's the exact same ideology embraced by the elite enslavers before the Civil War: some people are better than others, and have the right-- and maybe the duty-- to rule. It was the Mudsill Theory then, and it's the Mudsill Theory today, dress it up in whatever elegant language you may.

Is it just me, or is it noteworthy that Phil Scott's top environmental official has come out with guns a-blazing in an op-ed aimed squarely at Vermont's environmental community?

Phil Scott’s Back-to-the-Office Order Is Going to Cost Something, Whether He Wants to Admit It or Not There are questions circulating in legislative circles about the potential cost of Gov. Phil Scott’s return-to-office mandate, which takes effect on December 1 and requires at least three day…

Phil Scott's back-to-the-office order may or may not result in leasing office space owned by his friends and political supporters, but it will definitely cost something -- at a time of tremendous fiscal uncertainty for state government.

β€œThere’s too many Americans on SNAP!”

Yes there are. Too many corporations refuse to pay a living wage.

Huge companyies are encouraging their employees to apply for SNAP because they don’t pay them enough to survive.

The government encourages this & then blames the poor.

Woman sits in car for 14 hours to get food during New Birth Baptist church food giveaway More than 2,000 people waited in their cars in line Saturday morning in order to receive food.

Some people waited in line up for 14 hours to receive a food box from a church giveaway.

500 people volunteered to help and they still ran out of food.

Remember for every one person a food bank feeds, SNAP feeds 9.

By turning off food assistance the regime is starving Americans.

Couple at fall farmers market

Sign: FARMERS MARKET TODAY

Woman: LIFE IS SO STRANGE THESE DAYS. I SEE PEOPLE GOING ABOUT THEIR EVERYDAY BUSINESS.

THINGS LOOK PRETTY NORMAL ON THE SURFACE.

Strolling through stalls, woman checking phone, man holding up gourd

Woman: BUT WHEN I CHECK THE NEWS, IT'S TOTALLY SURREAL. THE EAST WING OF THE WHITE HOUSE HAS BEEN RAZED?!

RANDOM BOATS ARE GETTING BLOWN UP! PEOPLE ARE BEING DISAPPEARED!

Walking between stands selling pies and cider

Woman: IT'S LIKE THE GAP BETWEEN ORDINARY EXPERIENCE AND THE BIZARRE HELLWORLD OF POLITICS HAS GROWN SO VAST, IT'S DISORIENTING. IF YOU'RE LUCKY ENOUGH TO NOT BE DIRECTLY AFFECTED YET.

ONE YEAR LATER

In background: Stall named SURVIVOR ORCHARDS with sign saying THIEVES WILL BE SHOT BY DRONE

Drone hovering overhead

Gruel stall, $30/ bowl

Food bank donations box

Woman: OKAY, I GUESS THE TWO REALITIES FINALLY OVERLAPPED.

If there were a competent opposition party in this country, the only message we’d get is that a starving, desperate country where your only hope of safety is blind allegiance to a violent, capricious autocrat and prosperity exists for only his inner circle is what GOP governance looks like

It's interesting that wise conservative business guys implicitly understand "return on investment" except when it comes to this. It's better for YOU if your neighbor gets enough to eat so he can become your community's mechanic, accountant, dentist--whatever!--instead of lying dead in a ditch

I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email
