Love to see that. Doing the pre-recorded panel you never really know what the reaction will be, so I can only imagine how exhilarating seeing that must have been. It almost makes me miss going to Otakon for that.

Truth be told friends I was midway across the Pacific Ocean on a flight back to LA during the AnimEigo/Discotek panels yesterday so I could only see everyone’s comments and reactions well after the fact.
I’m really glad to see lots of people are excited for basically every title announced this time!

The licensor was on board with this release every step of the way, so clearly they aren’t very upset by it at all.

And to top it all off, a showcase featuring a bunch of Pili puppets, including some from freaking Thunderbolt Fantasy. This airport ended up being way more interesting than Narita or Haneda combined 🤣

It was all black, and with white text in all caps read: COME THE FUCKDOWN.
Inspiring.

My main takeaway from this experience is twofold:
1. How fucking hard it was to get a ticket at all, three weeks into its run, insane.
2. I was able to understand like 70-75% of the dialogue without subtitles. I was shocked. I can’t even understand dialogue in English-language movies half the time!

The animation is just as good as you’d expect from this franchise. Tbh there’s almost no difference b/t the quality of the TV animation VS theatrical, making the theatrical animation either less impressive or TV animation more impressive depending on if ur a glass-half-full or -empty kinda person

Okay yes I did see this trailer today before Demon Slayer and thought it looked awful, glad it wasn’t just me
Also besides the bad visuals I felt nothing compelling or interesting enough to care to see it. I was never a Hosoda fan at all but Belle was great so kind of a shame ig.

Today we finally got to see THE movie of all time. It was pretty solid, and had a bunch of great emotional scenes as well as tons of action, but it didn’t make me cry tears of manliness like the last one did. Looking forward to part 2, anyway

While the advisory has not been deactivated just yet (you never know with tsunamis), I think it's not a cause for concern at this point, and daily life has resumed for everybody.

Highest waves recorded reached 1.3m up in Iwate, so it was a lot less worrisome than was expected.
Unfortunately, one woman was injured after falling while running to shelter, and another lost her life when her car went off a cliff en route to an evacuation site.

Luckily, seems like nothing’s happened yet over here. The waves were supposed to start coming into the Bay an hour ago but nothing yet. Guess it’s a good sign.

Anyway, we got off a bit lucky here, everybody else on the Pacific coast until Kansai is expecting 3m of wave height with this one, which is a lot more scary.
I’m praying that everyone gets through this safely.

I’m about a 40min walk from the coast at Tokyo Bay & was worried about evacuating, but my in-laws told me that our area is sufficiently above sea level & I’m not at ground level in our place so should be fine not to worry if the 1m advisory for Tokyo Bay area is correct, but I can’t shake the nerves

It’s absolutely insane like, this is nearing the end of the second week this movie is in theaters, yet it’s just as packed as opening day. It’s been like this every day, every screening of its entire run so far. I’ve never seen anything like this. Might even beat Avengers Endgame at this point tbh

It’s even like this in Chiba. 20+ screenings in every theater yet we can’t find a single good pair of available seats in any of them.

Will try for the IMAX at the Ikebukuro Cinema Sunshine for next weekend, though it continues to look grim lol

New South Park is happening in the US thanks to the massive last-minute deal that secured it on Paramount+ for the next 5yrs.
While b4 u could watch S12-present on WOWOW in JP its been removed completely besides P+ specific specials. Guess the deal hasnt gone through international channels quite yet

God don’t I know the feeling, it’s indescribably melancholy haha

Change is desperately needed in this country, no doubt about that, & people are fed up with nothing improving for them for decades.
But I’m afraid that like we’ve seen repeated time & time again across the world, the change it needs will not be the change it gets, & end up doing more harm than good.

Seeing the amount of of non-Japanese far-right weebs spreading hate to foreign nationals who live here on Twitter just thrilled to see Sanseito’s alarming upset in yesterday’s election is… not unexpected, but still disappointing

I haven’t seen the latest season yet but I have heard it’s pretty poorly paced yeah.
I had issues with Swordsmith Village too, but tbh, I thought it took a while to actually get going (like 5 eps maybe?) even with the first season lol

Not to mention, Mugen Train remains to this day the HIGHEST grossing Japanese film (not ANIME film, film IN GENERAL) OF ALL TIME. Let that sink in.
This is going to be very interesting to follow, especially when it hits US shores in a couple months.
