Thinking about it, if I were to begin something like this it would not be subscription based.

I think we're all tired of subscriptions and I don't really feel inclined to support that in modern culture.

had the thought of starting an independently produced physical monthly magazine delivered via mail.
It would cover niche interests (Movies, Games, Comics, Cards, Music, food, etc.) in a typical 90s/00s inspired style.
