A common raven flying against a white sky
A common raven rolling in the snow. They get plenty of snacks in the form of 'food meant for bears' and are pretty safe from predators (unless they wander into the wolf exhibit, sometimes the wolves catch the ravens). So you get neat behaviors like snow rolling.
Common ravens interactions with one another. A lot of the birds in the winter are teenagers, so they get to work out social dynamics with each other. Usually involves yelling at each other.
A large group of common ravens in the bear exhibit.
#BIrdtober day 25 is another free bird space!
So here are some more ravens! Grizzly & Wolf Discovery center has year round ravens that are a joy to watch. You can see some really interesting behaviors from play, to interactions with other birds & the bears and wolves.

a formline design of a scarlet macaw from its side. its beak is partially open; its tongue connects to two humanoid designs that surround it on either side. the tongues of the humanoids also connect back to the macaw, creating a continuous red line that circles around from its mouth to the back of its head. a couple of monstera leaves are also included in the design.

A comic titled Spooky Bird Stories. In panel 1, a turkey vulture is telling stories to other vultures, and it says, "She walked toward the source of the terrible smell. She got closer and closer, and then, to her horror, she saw... No dead body." A black vulture says "No!" and a turkey vulture says "Did someone already eat it??" In panel 2, a northern cardinal is telling a story to some songbirds. It says "They peered through the windows of the house at the gory scene. Zombies had smashed through the door in the night. The homeowner was dead. But worst of all... He hadn't refilled the feeders." An eastern bluebird says "Aaah!" and an American goldfinch says "It can't be!". In panel 3, a screech owl is telling a story to other owls. It says "And then the ghost fluffed itself up really big to appear scarier." A saw-whet owl gasps, and a long-eared owl says "Horrifying!". In panel 4, a downy woodpecker is telling a story to other woodpeckers, and says "The eerie sound rang through the dark woods. Tap-tap. Tap-tap. It was the distinctive two-part knock of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker. The species had returned from the dead... FOR REVENGE." A red-cockaded woodpecker says "Yesss".

"He looks like--" Stop.
"They remind me of--" No.
It does cost $0 to not compare someone's work to some mainstream media that you like. If you are commenting on someone's art and talking more about something else ENTIRELY, you are likely frustrating that artist a LOT.
Stop doing it. Right now.
Digital painting of a monstrous Nargacuga-like creature with big fangs, a wide grin stuck on its beak, and oddly human-like back legs. It is perched on a rooftop. While the full moon illuminates its back, its tail is hanging in front of a window that a Felyne is cautiously peeking through.

The end isnโt the part that matters most.

Maybe leucistic, just slightly? I believe leucism occurs to varying degrees. I have a Raven for instance that I ended up naming "Ginger" ๐๐ชถ

A black-billed magpie, common raven, American kestrel, coyote, pronghorn, prairie rattlesnake, Ordโs kangaroo rat, sharp-tailed grouse, and short-horned lizard intertwine and encircle a scene showing the Pawnee Buttes. A golden eagle flies in the sky above the buttes. A red-tailed hawk tail feather and a sprig of sagebrush trail into smoke swirls that wind between the upper animal portraits.

An older piece with even older origins. My undergraduate years included significant research and exploration time in short-grass prairie ecosystems. These are the organisms and places I still love and cherish from a formative time in my scientific journey. Sacred. (Check alt text)
