Renee Good and Alex Pretti would have something to say to that...
Renee Good matched so many of the media's "perfect victim" qualities: she was an attractive, white, blonde, Christian mom, but because she was queer and liberal, they had to see her as a monster.
Signed comic of the day: Dick Tracy Meets the Spirit #1 signed by Joe Staton.
I can't bear to imagine how much more blatant the misogyny could have been if her more butch-presenting wife had been the one killed...
Here's wonderful news from one of the Renee Good Poetry Award organizers, Drew Lopenzina: they reached their goal of $25,000 in donations to create a permanently endowed fund. Well done!
I haven't seen this, but Jane Hamilton is one of the better actresses of the '80s adult film industry, so my curiosity is piqued...
A very moving tribute.

A truly moving portrait of a beautiful life cut short.
A terribly moving portrait of a beautiful life cut short.

worth remembering, David Lynch directed “fix your hearts or die” specifically at transphobes. it wasn’t a generic “no mean people allowed” statement, it was said by his Twin Peaks character in defense of a trans woman he cared for and deeply respected.

Farewell to the great singer/songwriter Country Joe McDonald. A bizarre comics connection: Country Joe & the Fish had a prominent appearance in Marvel's Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD #15 (Nov. 1969, by Gary Friedrich, Herb Trimpe, Dick Ayers & Sam Grainger).
I had missed this article when it first appeared, but it demonstrates yet another way in which Renee Good lived up to her surname...

I got to meet Billy Redden at last year's Monsterama convention, and I got him to sign the Deliverance pressbook for me. (He was also offering autographed banjos at his table...I don't know if anyone bought any, but I'm sure some collector must have.)
Signed comic of the day: Taboo #2 signed by John Totleben, Steve Bissette, @eddiecampbell.bsky.social, and James R. Smith. (I actually have two copies; I got my first signed by Smith, then years later ordered a second as a spare to scan, and it turned out to be signed by Bissette & Totleben!)
And the horrors continue...
