I wouldn’t mind seeing Alvarez as a defensive midfielder, provided he can find form again. That would give Paqueta a lot more freedom. I feel like JWP and Rodriguez are too slow. Not sure how we use Soucek next season either - impact sub?

I wonder if that is the side Potter starts with against Sunderland. I think ideally you’d swap JWP out for Alvarez or a new midfielder. I don’t feel like Areola had these mistakes in him before last season, but maybe sharing duties with Fab masked some of that #WHUFC

Over on the ‘other place’ people are fuming about us signing Wilson on a heavily incentivised contract. We’ve released two strikers in their 30s and signed one. It’s not ambitious - it may well save us money that can be spent on midfield options and he would be one of four options up front 🤷🏻‍♂️ #WHUFC

Disappointed we’re selling Kudus to Spurs. We’ve had six months to negotiate a deal with any other club in the world. If he plays well we’ll be pissed off but he’ll then move to a bigger club anyway so… You just have to hope we have big signings up our sleeves with that money #WHUFC

Apparently Sky Sports said we’re in for him but they want more than £20m, which seems quite a lot for a backup keeper, particularly when they’ve got Mamardashvili coming in too.

Agree that the London Stadium is amongst the worst, but it depends how you approach the ground. Via Stratford is awful/soulless, via Hackney Wick there’s a much better atmosphere.

I think about Paqueta rolling his foot over the ball before playing in Bowen in the Conference League final probably at least once a week. It’s not even the goal, it’s the fact he rolls his foot over the ball. It seems so unnecessary but it adds something to that moment for me.

If Alvarez can recapture his first season form I’d be happy to have him in our first XI in the DM role. He may have hit that form again were it not for his disciplinary issues and then ultimately being dropped.

Too many conspiracy theories is spot on! I think a lot of that comes from the ‘in the know’ accounts, who make money from a constant stream of leaks from within the club and general conjecture.

Yeah, I’m hoping Potter is able to influence some of the structural issues that the club might have. A truly outstanding summer would be someone buying out Sullivan. I’d take top 12 next season too - plenty of teams will find it difficult balancing the demands of Europe and the league.

I think Guilherme looks promising but you’re right - will he fit into this system next season, with Summerville back as well, if he can’t play as WB when required. Agree with Orford, was encouraging that he was around Potter’s first few squads but should surely get on the bench over Ings etc
