When @ericcolossal.bsky.social was a kid he used to draw the air coming out of a character's nose and that's AMAZING. That's so FUN. I would never think of that!! It's not stupid, it's experimenting, it's not being afraid to try something. We all need more of that

And if you hate what you drew, that's valid too! But it's a journey and the first steps are also so cool because you are in the process of figuring it out, that's beautiful.

I want everyone to be free and make art. And yes, sometimes I will find your drawing of a horse funny, but I think that humor comes more from surprise and wonder and joy rather than hatred or irony or cynicism.

Also just seeing the way a different kind of person's mind works! What part they draw first! Like, kid's drawings aren't great because we're all being ironic and mocking them, they're great because they're FREE, uninhibited, experimenting, still figuring out what they like!! That's so cool to see

When I say I love the art of non-artists, they look at me like "you mean you think it's FUNNY." and I'm not denying that a lot of it IS funny but I genuinely love to see the decisions that people make who are not part of the art world, who don't have all our hang-ups. It leads to unique choices!!

The awkwardness ppl feel wearing mask kind of reminds me of the awkwardness I felt when I first stopped shaving my armpits and legs. I was so afraid of judgement from others. But eventually that faded away. Its amazing how I don't give a single shit anymore. You can do it, it just takes time.

I don't mask in every situation, but I try to mask in crowds, in places where I know I can't avoid other people's germs. At the super market, at a concert, in a crowded theater. It doesn't feel like an imposition to me.

I would much rather ppl wonder why I'm still wearing a mask than get sick. When I feel awkward wearing a mask, I just think back to having Covid, how it gave me tonsillitis so bad I couldn't sleep for 4 days straight, was crying constantly, joints aching, body shivering. I'll be awkward thanks.

I figure that too but I'm fine with that. I'd rather they think I'm sick and being conscientious than get sick myself.
