I jumped on here to say hello, so hey, hello. Hope everyone's doing okay.
The last time I was unemployed I started up a Tumblr to try and get some miscellaneous writing together, and considering it's 2025, I've decided to do the same with a Patreon:

Giant Bomb Wolfbenpack.
Nah. Dan probably asked a Dan question, Mike probably screeched some, Jan probably had magnificent hair, and Grubb probably... Grubbed. I got nothing on that last one.
So much weird shit is going to be eaten for our entertainment.
Ahhhh, love to see it.
Tangentially, I hope there's a new Steam Deck sometime soon and Starfield is supported. I like what I've played but I can't see the writing for crap on a PC.
Real early thoughts on that Oblivion remaster - I like most everything except the dungeon map. That's an odd way of doing it. Apart from that, it's very much Oblivion with a cooler coat of paint. Great to be immersed in a big ol' sprawl of a Bethesda game.
Oh nice! Playing the Oblivion remaster right now but AC is up there for games this year I want to play. Only been one or two in series I bounced off of.
Is that the new AC? Neat costumes.
Hello everyone and especially those of you from the Giant Bomb community over these many years.
Today marks what is likely the last time @marinov1.bsky.social and I will author a Community Spotlight.

It is fundamentally dreadful storytelling and that's what irritates me. FFVII Rebirth does so much right that the stuff they do wrong is astoundingly egregious.
Every new character is universally varying degrees of bad. Every new plot element misses the mark. New story beats are often shoved into parts of the story where highly emotional things happen, as if they need to remind the player that this isn't the old FFVII.
But everything that deviates from the original game screams amateurish to such a degree that I'm still sort of angry about it twelve hours later. It's not that I care that they tried new things, that's whatever. It's how awful all those things are, through and through.
I usually don't really care if a remake of something is bad because the original exists. But Rebirth offends me on a weirdly professional level. There is no reason the new stuff added to that game should be this degree of awful, not if they hired professional writers.
I saw credits roll on FFVII Rebirth and boy, do I have some strong opinions on that one. I'm copying this from a Discord discussion I had about it, because I'm feeling lazy and irritated.
Trying to finish writing one last book before I have to have eye surgery so I have something bringing in income for me, but also I have FFVII Rebirth and Oblivion to play. Not enough hours in the day.
Getting a job in games media seemed almost unattainable when I broke in back in 2005. In the years since, it’s become almost impossible and ultimately inadvisable. I can’t imagine trying to break in today.
Independent is pretty much the only option now. Support your favorite creators directly.
Rorie, this is how bar fights start.
Heya friends! I don't visit this site as often as I should, but if you're following me thanks to our interactions on @giantbomb.bsky.social , hi, hey, hi.
I am old enough to vaguely remember video games being in the $80-90 range but ooof, that is asking a LOT from consumers right now, especially with no first-party budget branding like the Olden Days of the Wii generation.
I picked up the first few on Audible last month because I apparently have 30,000 hours to spare to listen to them.
That's a great haul!
Atomfall is Steam Deck compatible and on a pretty good Fanatical sale, so.... hmmmm. Anyone played that? Any thoughts?
That's pretty much my point. Unless you pony up for the season pass and keep fairly current on the new weekly characters (or at least the ones doing well at the top of the ranks), it feels like I'm kinda boned.
No knife recommendations, please. I know you probably own a cool knife made from Betelgeuse star metal smelted in Vulcan's armpit and folded over seventy-two-thousand times by a katana master, but I'm a basic bitch when it comes to kitchen stuff and will be buying something cheap and pointy.
I might be buying brand-new kitchen knives. I'm forty-two and I've never, not once, bought a knife brand-new. This is weird and frightening and it's going to end in me cutting off my knee or something.
Noice. Noice.
Interesting. What's your average monthly ranking? And what kind of a deck are you using? My Hela deck just got nerfed to hell.
