Crochet🧶 folks, I use Susan Bates hooks pretty much exclusively. I can't find a 7mm anywhere. Is there an inexpensive crochet hook brand that is inline and similar to a Susan Bates?

I have a spinal disease called Arachnoiditis. I spent most of 2019 and 2020 in a wheelchair. I used to be very active, I had a Harley I rode daily and I loved to go hiking. I had learned to crochet when I was a teen in the 70s so I picked it up again. I'm teaching myself to knit now.

That's so funny! I need this yarn!!! I'm a soap maker and several years ago I created a children's soap I called clown puke. I scented with cotton candy because I'm sure that is a staple of clowns diets.

I love rereading books, I always find things I didn't catch the first time around. My ADHD is ferocious right now, that's why I have so many projects going 🤣 I literally have one in every room of my house.

They're really good books, I remember how excited I got when each one came out! I'm working on throws now, a Chunky one for one sister and a scrappy granny for the other🥰 I've done some amigurumi but I really like doing a mindless project just to relax and keep my hands occupied 😂

I love audio books when I'm crocheting or knitting. I'm revisiting the Earth's Children series by Jean Auel. I'm on book two. I read the series as the books were released from 1980 to 2011.

I'm learning too! I found that crocheting my cast on stitches works best for me! I've been knitting dishcloths from different tutorials on YouTube.

Same. My reasoning is, 1 in the car, 1 small one I can carry into the Drs office, 1 in the kitchen I work on while waiting for food to cook, 1 in the family room, 1 I work on in bed while listening to my audiobook. Then 3 random ones I get out and work on when I need a change.

I love to crochet. I put on an audiobook, work with soft fluffy beautiful colors and escape from the crazy crap that's going on in the world.

I learned from an old lady who made hers in a kettle on a fire at a national park. She had more than 1 volcano. She also had some soft batches that took forever to harden. She made her own lye with wood ash.

I don't really have a favorite stitch, I like tight stitches that don't have a lot of holes in the fabric. I'm making a granny square throw for one sister, a single crochet throw for my other sister and a lemon peel stitch throw for myself. I have a lot of projects going😂

I struggled with that for years. I'm a self taught crocheter. Once I found YouTube tutorials I found out I'm a visual learner 😂 and i was making a lot of mistakes. I did finally master the magic circle.

Granny squares are a good starting place! Definitely make something small to start to see if you like it before you commit to a blanket.

I agree! I have chronic pain from a spinal disease. I went from riding a motorcycle to using a walker in a matter of months. Crochet, I'm teaching myself to knit, gives me something to focus on besides pain.
