James Marsters explained that final scene had slight different direction and dialog, but Joss Whedon saw the footage and told him the scene was horrible. #buffythevampireslayer
In emphasizing Spike and his soul over Buffy’s emotions, the show tells us that her feelings don’t matter because he’s changed.
All this does is affirm that the entire point of “Seeing Red” was to further Spike’s storyline off of Buffy’s trauma—thereby reducing her to a plot device on her own show.

"Let’s go back to the beginning. Not the word, not the bang, but the real beginning. And the real beginning is girl power. The real beginning is what does it mean to be a Slayer? And not to feel guilty about the power, but having seen the dark side of it, to find the light again.” -Whedon, S7
Nihilism rejects the idea of free will, believing it to be a “fabrication” born of powerless men. Calling the distinction between good and evil, "slave morality", which he believed developed from the resentment felt by the weak towards the powerful..The self-possessed man...he takes what he wants."

On the surface, the Trio exploit the earth’s resources through the weaponization of magic and technology, due to their own insecurity & entitlement. The deeper narrative examines the system that enables these men, offering a social commentary on the individuals they exploit to maintain their power.
Bro same 😭
Oh my heart 😭💔

Dawn taught us that you don't have to be supernatural to be extraordinary--that to be human is to be strong.
Michelle--thank you for sharing a part of yourself in Dawn. You are dearly missed.

Absolutely devastated.
"I didn’t know Spike was getting a soul. I didn’t even have the line, “I will give you back your soul!” and they’re rolling. It was cut and move on and I’m...confused. “Angel 2, yeah!” But that was the problem is you cannot go where Angel has gone." -James Marsters
Willow is saved, not by the supernatural, but through humanity and connection. The lesson is that true power comes from embracing the full range of human emotions alongside those we love. By facing life’s sorrows together, we invite deeper connections—and in doing so, we grow stronger. #buffypod

Even though Giles resists Eyghon, we see that it is a fight he will continue for the rest of his life, which is what makes his return in season 6 so impactful. His ability to take on a tremendous amount of magical power yet not be tainted, shows growth and leads the way in giving Willow hope.
“Two to Go” begins to reframe her actions as an effect of the dark magic’s possession of her... the unfortunate consequence is that the episode reduces Willow’s complexity—making her resemble every other big bad in her quest for power.

Sarah Michelle Gellar's statement on the #Buffyrevival gave me goosebumps. Let's gooooo!
100% when I started getting excited about this revival! She LOVES Buffy!
SMG’s statement is exactly why I have such optimism about this revival - I trust her care with Buffy Summers. She is very protective of that character and knows her so well. She grew up with her in a different way than we did so and knows her better than almost anyone else.

“Joss was very frustrated because he was trying to remind the audience that Spike was evil...I don’t know if he went too far. If the audience wants to be mad about that scene just remember your part in it, which is that you were fighting for Buffy to kiss a mass murderer.” -James Marsters
“I remember not being happy about it and not feeling like she would ever let that happen...She was a superhero. So why…? He’s not stronger than her...That whole season each choice seemed more for shock value to me than authenticity.” -SMG
