It might be silly but I overcame it because of watching the anime Frieren... I remembered one of the main characters talking about courage and being scared, but doing those things scared is what courage is and I was able to do it 😭 It was my Himmel the Hero moment except a dif character...

I gently but quickly grabbed him in a little towel and carried him outside. I let him go a bit away and he flew off.

It was a bit scary as I've never done that before!

Apologies if this is a long ramble. I couldn't really fit everything neatly as it's not very simple and character limits exist. I hope you can find answers and what vulnerability may mean to you and others you want to befriend. 💚

But my point is, if you are trying to help yourself and trying to better, overcome, deal with your traumas. People are much more willing to give grace and be understanding. You do not need to be a perfect friend and we are all on journeys of betterment and on different parts of paths and growth.

I also want to add, very anecdotally, that it's not the trauma that pushes away. I've had to cut off people because they refused to help themselves or accept any kind of help for their issues, they wallow in it and in turn bring others down with them. This isn't always intentional, but it happens.

but that doesn't mean I should stop trying to trust or befriend people. I also have to not take this too far in the other direction and be too trusting and give too much of the benefit of the doubt. Learning to say when enough is enough does not come easy and has not been a painless lesson 😅

I think there are a lot of different ways people can show vulnerability. And with a lot of things there are balances. And then it depends on the person too. I don't think it can be neatly laid out exactly, but it takes time and trial and error. You don't need to share everything right away.
