Watching the Shakespeare depictions of Margaret through the uni library and hadn't realised it was the Arthur Hughes version of Richard III. Very fun way to spend a Friday afternoon.
Would something about the testament/ test(amentum) fit the context of the document?

Reminder to myself that there are periods of fashion post 1550s and they are also fun! #Victoria&Albert #Marieantoinette
Attending the MEDATs #Greensleeves conference with the unexpected excitement of a 17th century crib!
It heightens both the violation of Victor bursting into her bedroom and the intimacy of her embrace with the Creature. The one person who does not see Elizabeth like this is William- her fiance in this adaptation- and an arranged match that is not completed
This was one of two paintings of Sissi with her hair loose in her toilette (the other from 1864 also by Winterhalter) but these were intimate paintings commissioned by the emperor and kept in his private study.
I've already seen people talking about Elizabeth in #Frankenstein2025 in connection w Sissy and the famous Franz Xaver Winterhalter painting- but not how much hair was a massive Victorian obsession that is emblematic of both purity and sexuality
I have love of his Lady Jane Grey at the National Gallery - it's so massive and the details are so sumptuous. It's this perfect encapsulation of a very sentimental view of the past
Very excited for the upcoming Great Expectations Conference! Should be a really thought provoking day on how to support historic religious buildings and communities that care for them

The funny thing about the Superman freakout is that Kal-El isn't "just" an undocumented immigrant. He is a refugee who fled a planet that was literally dying.
His creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, were first generation Jews whose parents had fled persecution in Eastern Europe.
Oh I'm going to so insufferable about this...

Andrea Dworkin pointed out the irony of being told men are women's natural protectors, when they are the biggest danger. Whether women are put on a pedestal or a pyre, it's the same old patriarchy. Men & women are not different species, men are not naturally superior to women.
EH News today... Having been a history grad who worked here one of the most difficult things facing those trying to get into Heritage is even if you get highly competitive roles- there is little security.

Pope Francis used his final public appearance, less than 24 hours before his death, to call for a ceasefire in Gaza ⬇️
Managed to drop into Eynsford castle last weekend- which was last occupied in the 13th century and still has a noman enclosure castle layout . Its tucked away down a tiny side road off the main village but well worth the visit!
Let me save you any angst: *everyone* choosing to work on a Harry Potter-based project has decided - or has management that has decided on their behalf - that the risk of angering trans people and our allies is worth the money they're getting in return. That's it.
