CA’s historic investments in public education are yielding significant results. SDUSD now ranks #1 in the nation among large urban districts in both 4th and 8th-grade literacy and is tied for #1 in 8th-grade math, according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress.

As part of his Move the Needle Initiative to accelerate student success through state-level investments, Supt. Thurmond celebrated SDUSD’s strategies that are driving measurable results and providing a model for other districts.

U.S. Presidential Scholars Program The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964, by executive order of the President, to recognize and honor some of our nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors.
