In my piercing experience, that does sound like it might be an allergy problem, even if it's not infected

If you're thinking about new studs, I'd suggest titanium or the clear plastic ones- the chances of being allergic to clear plastic/titanium posts is very low

It could also depend on how much you touch them/twist them/lay on them

A lot of people suggest twisting your piercings to help them heal, but you're just breaking good scabs and reopening wounds to germs by accident
I have personal beef with piercers who suggest that to kids

If stainless steel causes a lot of trouble with healing, I'd suggest trying titanium studs!
If you get the same result, you might just have mad ears
