ICE grabs 7-year-old NYC public school student amid Trump immigration crackdown Federal immigration authorities have seized a 7-year-old New York City public school student, the youngest-known local school kid to be detained during the second Trump administration.

A young New Yorker showed up for an immigration check in. She and her Mom were separated from her big brother and sent to a huge detention facility in Texas.

They were grabbed in downtown Manhattan, just 2 miles from my apartment.

She’s 7 years old.

Good trouble at the Federal Courthouse.

Spent yesterday morning observing housing court. The system needs more funding:

-I saw a case proceed without a needed translator because none was available

-A judge handled 113 cases in a day

-Funding gaps mean only 61% of eligible people receive counsel

We must do better

Legitimately feel sick. We are hours away from the largest cuts to low-income people in history. People’s lives will be ruined. It is so unfair. It’s unfair to be born into a system that allows this level of poverty in the first place and it’s evil to rip away aid from the needy. Hard to watch this.

SCOTUS’ decision yesterday targeted children, was in defiance of experts like the American Medical Association, & could serve as a stepping stone towards further limiting access to abortion, IVF, & birth control.
