Hope you enjoy it! My first symposium was the first one in 2010, I’ve been in USk since it started, I never get bored of being out and about drawing! Can’t wait to explore Poznan, never been there.

I just saw someone cycle past in the 2016 Spain away kit (the one with the triangles that look like nachos) and I’ve never seen that in the wild. Very cool, much respeck.

I had a dream last night that Lewis got pole in Hungary and then won the race. Knew it prob wouldn't happen (cos in the dream Lawson came 3rd). But, out in Q2. And then Leclerc got pole?! Tasty grand prix tomorrow morning!

Went downtown this evening after dinner, and had a couple of beers and a sketch at G Street, I have not been there in, I don’t know, more than 10 years? This took 1.5 pints of amber ale to draw. First day of August, middle of summer. #daviscalifornia #urbansketchers

Was out sketching after work at Picnic in the Park, it was nice. I was getting a bit frustrated with my sketching after a while, so I went for a milkshake.

My alarm didn’t go off so I got up late for the Belgian Grand Prix, only to find it is delayed. Lucky for me! In Belgium the rain is king. But hope I don’t miss the start of the women’s Euro final, come on England.

That was the last themed sketchcrawl I organized in London, I haven't run one since. I still find all the printouts, maps & stickers I made. I found this too, "Sketching Ren's Starkiller Base", I made for a laugh.

We started at St. Paul's, I talked about Wren, the Great Fire, then we spread about the City to sketch every one of his buildings. We met up at the Monument and I called out each one, and if someone drew it, they held up their sketchbook. As a big group we drew EVERY SINGLE ONE on my list. Amazing.

The next day, I organized a big sketchcrawl in the City, the second one I'd done themed around the buildings of Sir Christopher Wren: "Sketching Wren's London". That was a lot of fun, so many came, even an old friend from school. I drew maps with all the Wren buildings located. #urbansketcherslondon

Eight years ago today (7/23/2016) I sketched with USk London on a hot Saturday in central London, a few days before the Manchester Symposium.

It's hard to believe that was 14 years ago now. I'm definitely looking forward to the next one in Poznan next month.

It was one of the first times I did a lot of quick people sketches (though I'd done a bit in Portland) and it's always easier at a symposium, where everyone else is a sketcher too (and gets it when it comes out a bit wrong. A lot of very nice memories of Lisbon 2011, felt quite formative.

Fourteen years ago today I was in Lisbon for the 2nd Urban Sketching Symposium, which was twice as big as the first in Portland (but still a lot smaller than they are now, still relatively intimate). It was such a great experience, learned so much, met a lot of sketchers.

I did come back to Belgium in 2022, spent time in Brussels, Antwerp, and rainy Leuven, but didn't make it back to Charleroi (where I lived in 99-00), I want to go back there to sketch the factories from the terrils. #belgium

Here are some other Belgian sketches from that trip: Liege, Brussels, Charleroi, and Brugge. I could use a Belgian trip again!

Today (July 21) was the Belgian National Day. I was there for that in 2019 (a Belgian friend said "oh, is that today?"). Here are some sketches from that day in Ghent. I love Belgium, I always feel at home there.

I did a lot of people sketching too on that trip, there were a lot of good meetings. I felt quite free with my people drawing, just didn't think and let it happen, and caught some good moments. It's easier with other urban sketchers, I'm shyer around non-sketchers. #urbansketchers #porto
