08.12.2025 18:37 — 👍 13 🔁 3 💬 1 📌 0I know it’s an age thing, but as someone who grew up w/o cable, the answer to “name a movie you’ve seen more than six times that’s not…” is *any* movie pre-Y2K.
08.12.2025 17:41 — 👍 55 🔁 5 💬 6 📌 2I'm sorry, but naming films I've seen more than 6X and excluding Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel & LOTR is supposed to be "hard mode"?? 🤔
08.12.2025 17:29 — 👍 42 🔁 3 💬 9 📌 0I loved Wake UP Dead Man. Of course the cast, lead by Daniel Craig, is amazing, & the storyline is fun & filled with unexpected twists. But it’s the underlying theme of the struggle between doubt & faith that surprised me & set this newest Knives Out Mystery apart from the others.

I love Rush. Might even be my favorite Ron Howard movie.
07.12.2025 17:05 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I spent the first 10 years of my career as a famously vicious film critic. I was effusive with love but wrote some famous takedowns that often went viral. There was a 2 month period where my careers overlapped. I wrote a SAVAGE takedown of an admittedly deserving film that went around town…

Even more so in publishing, where I am high enough up the food chain that me being shitty to someone could have actual repercussions.

06.12.2025 21:33 — 👍 5 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0Had this discussion with some friends back east. They were like "I don't go to the theater anymore because they are gross and disgusting." I was genuinely shocked to hear this. Hollywood should help exhibitors and invest directly to better the general experience.

In Wisconsin thankfully we have Marcus Theatres and they're actually decent? Nothing like rep theaters or even Alamo tho
Here is why Skyrim is weird.
You have a thousand locations that are mostly similar. Here's an orc village, here's a Nord village, here's a elf camp, etc.
Oh! And here's costume party that takes place in a demented clown's brain and all the goats can talk and you can win a wand that's a dildo.

06.12.2025 18:28 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0I’ve spent a lot of my life on & off working in theaters and the quality drop that the average theater faces is incredible. I can’t blame people either, when you focus so little on upkeep why would the average person want to come spend their money on something they can see more comfortably at home

06.12.2025 17:43 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0… My extended family rarely goes to the theater. And after going to the movies with them a few times, I honestly don’t blame them. Poor sound quality, talking, etc. Even I’d wait for streaming, and I’m a movie nut!
