I watched an interview with Glen Cook, author of the Black Company etc. He said with a smile: β€œI know I will be writing probably on my deathbed because it’s just a compulsion, it’s something I have to do. Even if it’s not going to sell, I’ll do it. Because I have to do it.” #writerlife πŸ–‹οΈπŸ“–πŸ’°

A moving and evocative tale of two sisters and the fate of the generations that followed. An unveiling of the worst of humanity and of the unbreakable spirit of those who endured. A magical weaving of the heartbreaking and the inspirational that captivated me and educated me.

On the heather covered hill top are the remains of an entrance grave. The eroded side entrance walls and the perched capstone are slabs of white porphyritic granite. The sea in beyond the cliff face is calm, the sky is overcast.

Over 4000 years ago, an island people left a tribute on the hillside with this entrance grave. A memorial to an individual? A communal shrine? Through the mists of time, the purpose has been obscured, yet the soul of those ancients lingers in the land.

So many galaxies, and within them, so many stars. Around those stars, planets. And on one particular planet in the vastness of the cosmos, a bee collects nectar and pollen to support its colony. To support Life. As its ancestors have done for over 100 million years. #lifeisprecious

On that 'Pale Blue Dot' have been queens, tyrants, poets, thieves, lovers. Each vibrant sparks of life, or hellish deniers of life. Each believing themselves immortal, yet each crossing the Horizon. And all the while, this pale blue dot journeys onward, dismissive of its vainglorious passengers.

This reminded me of Haemin Sumin's 'The things you can only see when you slow down' - Korean Zen Buddhist. Amazing that we can label ourselves to different creeds, yet most deep down have the same wishes for themselves, their families, their planet. 2/2

A very interesting, thought-provoking conversation. I had a certain British view of ancient Druids & hadn't appreciated this contemporary form, Druidry. A lot to respect: ask, then be quiet; cultivate honourable relationships; respect diversity of beliefs. (1 of 2)

Many thanks to Susannah at Bracadale Books for adding decades more life to this 100-year-old edition of 'When We Were Very Young'. Eagle eyes will spot evidence that the original binder used an even older book's board beneath the blue leather cover. Waste not, want not. #bookrestoration πŸ–‹οΈπŸ“–πŸ’°

This was great! And so true! I made the mistake of letting a beta see my first draft of Arrival. I won't do that again! And I really liked that Zach didn't jump into those moments of silence – allowed you and Benji time to articulate your thoughts. I'd never heard of Broadleaf, but now intrigued ...
