Now using iOS and Android in parallel for the last couple of months, I am still genuinely shocked by how BAD the iOS keyboard experience is. From typing precision to auto correct to the whole editing process, it's just so much better on Android. (Talking about the stock experience)

Haven't posted in a while, neither here nor on the blog. "The Book" is getting ready for the final copy edits, starting March. Which means "Done!" some time late summer / autumn. πŸ™‚β€β†•οΈ

Interview with Sofie Hvitved: On Studying the Metaverse – Field Notes from the Metaverse

The Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies (CIFS) over the years has published some of the most comprehensive and thought provoking papers and studies on the metaverse, so naturally I had to interview them for my book: fieldnotesfromthemetaverse.com/2025/10/01/i...

@reckless.bsky.social Hi there! I am writing a book on the history of the metaverse & virtual worlds and I would love to interview you. Being a long time Verge reader & listener I think you have the amazing ability to contextualize the present in light of the past, which is what I want to achieve.

What helped me reset was learning to draw from another perspective. I took Dan Roams "The Back of the Napkin" to learn drawing for business and workshop documentation, then expanded that into other areas. That shift helped to ignore the urge of "my hand just uses line work like always"

I now got an almost finished book on the history of the metaverse and virtual worlds. I always thought the final chapter would be easy since it's just wrapping up with my own opinions. But in writing the book those expanded and got so nuanced that I don't know where I land anymore. πŸ€”πŸ˜³

They now switched to a windows laptop. Still no success. The Gen Alpha started to get impatient and starts tapping on the laptop screen on every icon available.

Neither of them reads anything. The Gen Alpha just looks for videos and complains about so many text in the installation screens and the boomer just randomly clicks around and asks if they have to pay anything because they just accepted a license agreement.

Watching a Gen Alpha and a Boomer trying to get a printer connected to a computer is fascinating. One is helplessly pressing random buttons, the other wondering why he can't find anything on TikTok about this ancient Canon artifact.

Finished a good first version of my interpretive framework to assess #metaverse narratives. Or rather, a good first draft of version 3 of the framework.

Honestly no real difference for most mechanical keyboards, as they can adapt to both windows and Mac. Many prebuilds even include extra Mac key caps (keychron, iqunix, ..).

Mount styles and the switches they fit The keycap mount refers to the molded plastic piece on the underside of each keycap that allows it to attach to the keyboard switch.

Here's an overview of some popular ones (see PDF there): spkeyboards.com/blogs/produc...

Others unfortunately are proprietary and only used by one keyboard manufacturer.

Pull out one keycap to check the mounting style, or look it up online, many manufacturers have the info on their sites & specs for the keyboard.
