Hundreds of vulnerable children placed in illegal homes for months by care system - Committees - UK Parliament Children are being put at risk as a result of being placed in inappropriate homes through a residential care system in England that is not working.

Although Westminster stuff is entertaining, true politics is actual policy. Including the serious crisis of state capacity in part caused by the austerity of the 2010s - putting anyone and everyone vulnerable at risk.

DHSC published its impact statement for the 10 Year Health Plan this week (yes, that is 6 months after it published the plan)

It's more measured and clear-eyed than the original document and quite a contrast to some of the effusive optimism in the plan

Some of the things that caught my eye 👇

Why this could be final nail in coffin for an industry that was once pride of UK's economy Much has come and gone in Britain's industrial history.

So sad, and so scary to read this about the decline of the chemicals sector. This is where i started my career... one Ammonia IV by products on Billingham site, Carbon Dioxide number 3 plant. Bubbles for Coca Cola, (b1979, no ladies loo for female engineers?!)

I really do enjoy No Meetings Fridays.

We adopted this a couple of years ago and only allow external meetings where they can't/won't shift.

Some weeks I get more done on a Friday than I do in the other four days in the week.

Community services are under growing strain, with almost 1.2 million people waiting for care, and the steepest rise among children and young people.

As neighbourhood health services are rolled out, addressing pressures on community care will be essential.

Q5: I have gained a renewed sense of connection with the QI tribe which I missed from the other place. I think I will do more exploring of the values of the project team in the early stages of a project and note them so we can refer to them.

The model for large scale change - the framing and reframing loop is helpful, I think. See page 20 here #QISky https://www.england.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/practical-guide-large-scale-change-april-2018-smll.pdf
