That’s why we came together during our 60-hour vigil to show that we demand better for our families and communities. Together, we heard stories from thousands of families, caregivers, disabled people, and older adults who represent the millions who will be affected by cuts.

While Congress handed tax breaks to billionaires, they ripped away much-needed care from millions of families. It’s a betrayal, and we deserve better. And you know what? We won’t get over it, despite what Congressional leaders claim.

Last week, Congress passed, and President Trump signed a budget bill that cuts nearly a trillion dollars from Medicaid and Medicare—the largest cuts to care in our nation’s history!

This is a betrayal to the more than 80 million people in the U.S. who depend on Medicaid.

In a country where thousands of us turn 65 every day and hundreds of thousands remain on waiting lists for aging and disability care in the home and community, we should be focused on expanding vital care, not fighting to save what we already have.
