I will be upset about the Phillies' moves (or lack thereof) at the deadline *when the deadline actually passes* and not a second before.

Viktor Gyökeres seems vaguely evil, which I view as a positive quality in a striker. Good signing.

The Eagles thinking about replacing the Linc with a domed stadium is wasteful and pointless. Fans don't have to give in to the idea that this is compelled by modern economics. The team is making plenty of money, and they don't actually need to squeeze every dollar out of everyone in the city.

The "it's just one game" take from certain quarters is particularly galling given that Hurts also delivered an elite performance (and throughly outplayed Daniels) in the NFCCG.

I just watched 40 minutes worth of highlights of Jalen Hurts leading my team to a Super Bowl beatdown of the greatest coach and QB in the league. I'm sure Chargers fans get the same enjoyment out of a compilation of Justin Herbert's strongest throws.

I think it's very likely that Howie's stated explanation is right: other teams also viewed this as being a 50-pick draft and didn't want to trade back to 64 without an exorbitant package.

It isn't particularly surprising that, in a weak draft, the Eagles are not getting home run picks falling to them at the end of these Day 2 rounds.

My read is that, earlier in the process, the Eagles thought he would still be on the board at 24ish, but the likelihood of that being true has fallen over time.

(Personally I don’t see the value of a big trade up in this class and am hoping someone will bite on trading for 32.)

I am not sure what to make of (1) the well-sourced local beats uniformly mocking Walter Nolen to the Eagles, while (2) the national consensus seems to be him being pushed up into the top 20.

NBC's Phils tv production gets worse every season. Ricky Bo adds nothing. They talked over most of the pregame stuff and missed the first pitch. TMac won't stop yelling. Kruk is neither funny nor interesting. Maybe one more game before I fully switch over to the radio for the year.

Is any at-bat for the Nationals “meaningful,” though?

I don’t know how to stop it, but the post-pandemic trend of anti-social fan behavior directed at the field needs to stop.
