Was it expensive? Yes. Was traffic bad? Also Yes. Are there too many tech bros? Indeed. But it is still probably the biggest hive of queerness in all of Texas (Montrose being second). Idk, it’s the only place that’s felt like a home to me, and I really miss it.

Austin will always have a special place in my heart. I lived there for a decade, now that I’m living in rural Texas again, I’m planning on moving back as soon as I’m financially able too. I don’t feel safe where I am. My friends are there, my community is there. It was a really great place to live.

For whatever reason, it’s become trendy to hate on Austin (beyond conservative Texans hating on it). Liberal and progressive people are saying some vile shit about the place. I try to remind people that as a queer person, Austin was the first place I ever lived where I felt safe enough to be myself.
