It achieves the same as the old checkboxes did. If you mess up, you can do Ctrl + Z to undo the import. Hope that helps.
Have you tried using the checkboxes within the pose import submenu? You can find them in the dropdown, which is right next to the big import button. It sounds like you're loading a pose not intended for the same race/tribe/gender/face. Try loading with positions toggled off.

Have you tried using the checkboxes in the import pose submenu (the arrow next to the big import button)? If you untoggle positions there, you should be able to load selected bones without them breaking, even though they were intended for another race/gender/face.
Your poses are likely breaking because you're importing position data intended for a different race, gender, or face. To fix this, simply toggle the specific settings you want to include or exclude in the secondary import menu. For bodies, its recommended to have positions toggled off.
The three checkboxes had nothing to do with parenting, they were responsible for freezing parts of your skeleton so that the game doesn't override it. It's just the case that now all 3 aspects of your skeleton are frozen.
It was done that way because for the majority of hairstyles, even though they have left and right hair bones, they don't actually move the hairstyle, whereas the EX bones do. There's no perfect solution here.

Anamnesis has auto-save turned on by default unless it was turned off in the settings. You can find your temporary poses/appeareances/cameras in Documents/Anamnesis.

Are you on the latest Anamnesis version? (v7.38.0.2). If so, could you tell me exactly what error you receive so that I can investigate the issue? How do you reproduce it? Does it happen consistently?

Yeah, if you go to settings, you can see where it stores the files on your computer. You can also configure a bunch of options like frequency and save count.
All posing tools have the auto save feature.
