This was something I was tired of seeing people say from my old church. Whenever an injustice took place they would say "We need to show the world what real Christianity looks like", but any talk of systemic or cultural issues within the church were quickly quashed. They made this bed in the end.

PWG is (was?) Five Guys; it's loud, messy, simple, and not the easiest place in the world to get to, but that's part of what makes it great. The perfect distillation of its respective art form.

JCW is Waffle House. I don't feel the need to elaborate this comparison.

TNA is Jollibee; a somewhat more regional style of product, it's best known for its cult status and use of unconventional dishes to draw people in.

AEW is In-N-Out; top quality ingredients, but a menu that needs some work. Gets by on name recognition, but where it really shines is the secret menu/undercard. If you go in without someone to help you through the secret stuff, you might be disappointed.

Wrestling promotions as fast food chains;

WWE is McDonald's; a very reliable product, which is both its strength and its weakness. Universally recognized, but rests on its laurels too much. Makes 1 or 2 things a year worth talking about (Royal Rumble/McRib).

Currently watching Shin Ultraman. I thought Shin Godzilla was one of the best all time Godzilla movies, so I'm interested to see how Hideaki Anno handles Ultraman.

I mean...I saw The Social Network. I should have known better.

Got to finish off the year seeing one of my current favorite Japanese hardcore bands, True Fight. Highly recommended for fans of Gorilla Biscuits and Youth of Today.

I stopped drinking in December of 2023 so I've now been sober for a year. I feel pretty good about this choice, but not quite sure I'll go back to reclaiming #straightedge. But, this feels good nonetheless.

It handles the subject matter appropriately which makes it such an uncomfortable and unsettling watch. I think this is where movies that handle such heavy issues fall short. They lean into cinematic glamorization to attract viewers instead of looking to challenge them.
