...and also thanks to the @soilsdbg.bsky.social for borrowing me their great educational material, including the πŸͺ±-boxes, where the kids can observe bioturbation live in their classroom over the coming weeks.

Today, I had a lot of fun at my daugther's elementary school, where I talked about the importance of healthy soils and the beauty of soil organisms (which is easy if one has the fantastic photos of @frankashwood.bsky.social). Next generation of soil scientists is secured I hope πŸ‘¨β€πŸ”¬πŸ‘©β€πŸ”¬

Jupp, I understand that these are automatically generated and I am truly grateful to all the editors and reviewers that keep the system running, but there has to be a way for the publishers (and this not only Elsevier, but virtually all of them) to make the πŸ•° stop ticking over the weekend 🀨

08.09.2025 07:06 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yes, I am also grateful if my own papers go through the review process quickly. But even (or better, "especially") as an author, I wouldn't want the journals to send reminders to my reviews on weekends, as this is not very likely to improve the mood with which they will attend my paper 😬

08.09.2025 07:03 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Isn't there anything that can be done about that?

08.09.2025 05:46 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Hey @elsevierconnect.bsky.social,
@geoderma.bsky.social is one of my absolute favorite journals, but receiving a review request on a Saturday, 7:01 a.m. and then a reminder on Monday morning 7:14 a.m. ("why haven't you replied in the past 48 h of your weekend???") is beyond annoying πŸ˜‘.

One of the cool things about Hanover is that within only a few km distance, one can find one of the worst soils of πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ (podzol: 21/100 points) and one of the best soils (chernozem: 96/100). Of course, both are equally beautiful 😍, irrespective of how fertile they are
