In South Florida, a 17-year-old from Guatemala was taken into custody because officers couldn’t make contact with his dad after a traffic stop; his dad is deaf. In Maryland, a 17-year-old from Mexico ended up in a shelter after making a wrong turn onto military property."

Since the start of this year, some 600 immigrant children have been placed in government shelters by ICE, according to government data β€” the highest number since recordkeeping began a decade ago. www.propublica.org/article/ice-...

No child should have to face our nation’s complex immigration system alone.
So, see how our programs play a key role in ensuring children who arrive to the U.S. alone have a community in their corner to defend their rights, safety, and well-being.

Our children and youth should be able to stay within the safety of their families, not forcibly separated because of shifting policies. On this Giving Tuesday, plan to accompany us by giving a donation to support immigrant children.

No mother should ever be separated from her children, especially when she has done everything in her power to live rightfully in the U.S.

To be clear, this is not a system protecting families... it's one that's failing them.

If there were no backlog, the brothers would have had their green cards and would have been permanently protected from deportation. The Protect Vulnerable Immigrant Youth Act (PVIYA) is a bill in Congress that would end the years-long green card backlog for SIJS youth.

They were deported to Guatemala despite a state court and USCIS determining it was not in the best interest of the brothers to return.

Yup. @theyoungcenter.bsky.social warned about this. We've *been* warning about it since people started pushing for these wellness checks in Trump 1.0. We knew they'd be used to target family members. ICE/CBP should never be allowed to conduct "wellness checks." They only use them to abuse.

Chicago's children are getting caught in the chaos of immigration crackdowns In Chicago, children and families have been traumatized by an immigration enforcement action involving tear gas.

Andrea Soria...overheard her 6-year-old whisper to her dolls: β€œWe have to be good or ICE will get us,” referring to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Absolutely heartbreaking. Children should feel safe in their communities, able to play and be children. Not live in fear.
