This. People are both so busy with their own shit and so inundated with takes on things that used to be considered common knowledge that they don’t have time to parse everything. We’ve all become Sherri Shepard on The View, too busy raising our kids to care if the earth is flat or not.
I think there’s just such a wide berth between how much money these movies make and how they are felt post-release. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t seen at least one Avatar movie, but I don’t know a single person who has any of them in their personal top 10 and that gap is kind of fascinating to me.
