Jesus. Cruel and unusual, anyone? This is maddening.

This day is looking up with every passing hour. So many little God winks have paved the way for smooth sailing today. Might even kick out a little early and prepare to enjoy a lovely weekend with my favorite boys (one human, one dog).

Anyway…we did a special thing this week. ❤️🌺🌸🌼

It used to bring me peace to tell myself to keep doing the good where I can, with all I can, starting with my little corner of the world.

It also used to be comforting to be with like-minded people. But because none of us seem to have any answers, it all just makes the grief more intense.

It's trying, is what I'm struggling to say. What I mean is, I'm exhausted.

I run a nonprofit trying to do good works in our community every single day of the week. It feels like swimming upstream in the best of times. Since January, there are a lot more soul sucking days in the mix. We're still doing good, but the need overwhelms and it feels like eating an elephant whole.

I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but with all the over-access we have to national and global news, is it too much to ask that our local news outlets actually report...local news?

The last living grandson of President John Tyler has died.

Harrison Ruffin Tyler was born in 1928 and died in 2025.

Today makes me want to re-up my commitment to be a positive force for change. I do not like who I become when I allow other people's inanities to bog me down. I can't change the world, but I can continue to improve my little corner of it and let it ripple outward.

The nonprofit I founded just surpassed $1,000,000 in value benefit provided to our community. Took us 11 years, but honestly? It's more than I ever dreamed possible upon receiving our IRS determination letter in August 2014. 😍

What happened to BUY AMERICAN!?!

what is fascinating to me is the number of people whose “knowledge” of government appears to just be an accumulation of cliches and stereotypes + an inchoate sense that if something is big and costly then it must necessarily be “wasteful”
