Happy New Year 2026 - as 2025 comes to an end, let's look to this tiny tree for a lesson in persistence. The large stump washed ashore. Weathered by the years, sitting at the high tide line, someone decided to set fire to it. And yet - here is a tiny sapling that has taken root and flourished.

Willow Point and Discovery Passage south of Campbell River BC on a sunny December day - the ocean is flat, reflecting the blue sky. There are a few clouds on the horizon. You can see the shore and logs tossed up by the sea.

although the day is clear, in this view of Willow Point, the waves are storm-tossed. The sky is blue with massive clouds mounted on the horizon. There are many clouds floating in the sky.

I remember when it came out and the reels of film came to my tiny town to be screened at our Rec Hall in Ucluelet.

and it's everywhere - not just in Vancouver and Victoria. Same here in Campbell River. The new "Re-Imagine the Row" will see rental above commercial in a block that was demolished. Who will be able to afford the new commercial rents?

I think one asks for 3 months before sharing, the other 6 months. I was ok with that as a newbie poet. Now, 6 months seems long to me.

they even had a contract, and when I questioned them, they said they had been advised to proceed in this fashion. Not worth it, in my opinion. If it was a top-tier litmag then I'd consider but not a new magazine. There are several small print magazines/anthologies who have been very good to me...

that is also where I tend to land. One newer magazine wanted a year. Nope.
