Jerma is a lot shorter than I remember

The setting is at a beach shore during the time between Sunset and dusk: a mixture of yellow, orange, pink, and purple fills the sky and is reflected in the calm sea. A big, tall, and muscular, anthro African Wild Dog proudly looks and shows off his massive muscles to the viewer, as the setting sun is behind him to emphasize his figure through radiance.

In The Derelict, an old ship doctor recounts an event in his youth. He and a few others boarded an abandoned mold-covered vessel after their ship was disabled. They found out and to their horror that molds not only assimilated it over time but became it. Like a Venus flytrap, it devours one unfortunate crewmate by sinking the poor soul into itself. The mold was mobile, and almost killed them hadn't they hustled and rowed far away.

In Slime, a gigantic black amoeba wreaks havoc on a swamp after underwater volcanic activity brought it to the surface. The creature that engulfs its victims and constricts by folding itself onto them. What is frightening is the creature’s lack of fear, its increased mobility on land, and its insatiable appetite for food.

Today is #voreday and there’s something I'd like to say.

In horror, something is scary about being eaten alive. Unable to escape something completely beyond your control. A few stories in literature, feature that strongly, particularly in weird horror fiction. Here are two where that is prevalent.
