Another kak day in Africa ☀️🏏
Great post. The _survey_ package is my go to when working with surveys with complex designs because it pulls in survey weights, stratification, and clustering, with the latter two factors being important for accurate errors.
Went for a morning drive in Kruger National Park (South Africa) with @andreafuller.bsky.social Found a few lion cubs soaking up the morning rays of sunlight.
Irrefutable evidence for the labeled line theory of sensory coding. At least, that’s how it feels to the brilliant illustrator

not reproducible ≠ wrong/false/fluke
reproducible ≠ true
not reproducible ≠ poor science
reproducible ≠ good science
reproducibility of results is not a reliable indicator of truth/research quality/epistemic progress.
replication of a poorly designed study is another poorly designed study.

Teaching stats & research methods to undergrad medical students is soul destroying.
But catch them later in their career, especially the ones who've developed an interest in research, & it can be very rewarding.
We need to rethink when & how we offer research training to medics.
I feel seen. Finally, someone else using Option C. Over the years I’ve had a number of people question my placement of aes.
Great afternoon to watch my daughter play #cricket
Cool pic. Reminded me of the “plasma” or “inferno” palettes used in #Rstats
It's really cool to see so many networks reforming, and new ones popping up. Many thanks for all the new "follows". I guess if I have one key message to share, it's that sometimes you just have to become your own (not a real) statistician.

I started (at @katesadlerphd.bsky.social's suggestion, thanks Kate for pushing me) a pain neuroscience and pain research starter pack. I am sure I have missed many people so if I missed you, I am sorry, but please just ask me to add you in the thread below and I will do that. go.bsky.app/KboKNhg
