I rarely do this, but I’m hoping I maybe have enough of a following here that someone can help: I need to get in contact with Donkey Kong. It’s urgent

I guess I do think if you participated in the arrest of a five-year-old you are probably just fundamentally incompatible with society. That you are not a safe person for humanity to be around, generally

There's an old saying from Ron Paul - I know it's in Lenin, probably in Ron Paul - that says there are decades where weeks...uh... and there are weeks where, uh...it's happening

live your life such that millions of people don’t drop everything they’re doing to collectively hope that It Happened at the slimmest of signs

I'm being told he drowned in the toilet. He was drinking from the toilet like usual but something went wrong. CPR was not administered because everyone thought it was too gross

If you have to get permission to teach in your area of expertise from people who are definitionally not qualified to adjudicate your expertise then you are no longer working at a university.

You’re working at a state propaganda factory.

So, no, Ohtani's power is not really captured by the numbers. Those get bigger, better, more impressive-fine. The numbers are straightforward enough. His power is better understood through something more abstract.
It's the expectations he subverts. You think you understand the framework of the modern game.
You think you know what is supposed to be possible here. You're familiar with all the old narratives, the places where one thing should logically follow another, and then-here is Ohtani. Here is something you did not realize you were allowed to imagine.

Wrote this about two years ago. And credit to that last bit, really, truly did not imagine this! www.si.com/mlb/2023/06/...

Welcome to the capitalist innovation museum we got

- scam machine
- psychosis inducing machine
- weapons of mass destruction
- button you push that makes the planet hotter
- markets that intentionally starve people
- clothes that fall apart after washing them 1 time
- medicine you can’t afford

Too bad the GOP effectively criminalized studying how information moves online and news orgs laid off and demonized all the reporters who covered the burgeoning online accelerationist performative death cults. All of that work was somehow "censorship" that needed to be stopped. Now we're here.

Harris Wittels tweet: @kentremendous okay I've mastered a you tweet: "Schmidt Humphries is 100 years old, weighs 500 pounds, and has a .128 GART. It's June."

We're nearing the late Harris Wittels's birthday. Throwback to the harshest baseball burn I've ever received.

it’s crazy it took 248 years for a president to realize he can do anything illegal and it doesn’t really matter too much. you can sort of just do whatever, it’s chill

There are literally not enough journalists employed in the US to cover the bad shit that is happening right now. We are now going to experience the social consequences of a weakened news industry--which are the same as the benefits of a weakened news industry, to those who weakened it.

all other things being equal, when confronted with one team of people recruiting you to Be a Thing and another team recruiting you to Do a Thing, please give serious thought to joining the second.

The slow trickle of MAGA folks over here underscores how much their experience of online is entirely dependent on people getting mad at them. It also underscores how even they, given the option, would rather not hang out with themselves either.
