Okay so all this is actually super helpful in explaining. Ive heard the terms used interchangeably a lot and I just wanted clarity on it. Thank you so much. I guess the only time a “kilt” would be a cultural thing is with the tartan on it and the accessories?

Yeah that I totally get. It’s just something that has floated in my head for quite a long time now. Like it’s all the same thing really just different names so does it have clarification depending whom is wearing it or does it not matter at all either?

Okay so honest question for those that wear them. Difference between skirt/kilt/utility skirt or kilts. Is the idea that skirt is seen as remained and kilt as masculine even though a kilt is a cultural article of clothing or am I overthinking it all? Something I’ve genuinely wondered for a long time
