CHAPBOOK TUESDAY

As we move into December, here's a chapbook featuring a robin that caught my attention.

THE COURTSHIP, MARRIAGE AND PIC NIC DINNER OF COCK ROBIN AND JENNY WREN

This is a story that has it all ... love, romance, commitment and a nice pie. What's not to like?

19th century edition.

Actually, don't get lulled into a false sense of security, because this one doesn't end well.

You can find out for yourself. This chapbook is digitised as part of the University of York Raymond Burton Collection, and you can read the whole tragic saga here:

Titchfield solar postbox plan 'puts yarn-bombing tradition at risk' An MP vows to fight to save a village's long-running tradition of elaborate postbox toppers.

Whilst I don’t think the whole tradition of yarnbombing is β€˜at risk’ for various reasons, changes to the design of UK postboxes will have an effect on toppers in many places.

I can see the Post Office having to relent in some cases with famous boxes.

Thoughts?
