V grateful to @britsocimm.bsky.social awarding me a carerβs grant so I was able to come with baby & family in tow to look after him! Easing the transition for both of us and wouldnβt have been able to come otherwise.

Great study in @jexpmed.bsky.social.
IFNAR1 or IFNAR2 complete deficiency leads to severe viral disease. Here, authors identify 11 mutations where heterozygosity predisposes to severe viral disease by negative dominance. 1 is common. Paper: rupress.org/jem/article/...
The dynamics of interferon-stimulated gene expression in COVID-19 depends on their underlying epigenetics in specific cell types, with impacts on their utility as blood RNA biomarkers. Great to contribute to this study bringing insights into diagnostics from immune cell epigenetics

Impressive.
Key take homes for me.
1) Time to result still long - addressable but a barrier currently.
2) 10% contamination.
3) Despite using cutting edge tests a "causative" organism found in only 15%.
Looks like a fabulous resource! #IDsky
