How’d you get that plug in to show number of blocks?
I know he has never asked my forgiveness but that ridiculous claim and the "rounding up criminal illegals" lines in his campaign have both kept me from ever giving people the impression I'm ok with his time as governor.
As a PS: Kemp's purge of voters and insinuation that the Abrams campaign broke the law in 2018 is worthy study on the power of disenfranchisement. Leader Abrams got SO CLOSE at a time when many felt like Kemp rigged things--I'd argue we can feel it today. The lack of enthusiasm since is undeniable.
Carr and Raffensperger are losing because they're boring and unwilling or unable to run to the far right. I'd commend them if their policies weren't so far right. Why would a republican primary voter want to vote for the policies they can get with Jones or Jackson without any of the sparkle?
You could, accurately, argue that he governed more moderately than he ran, but that could be true of Rick Jackson or Burt Jones, although I would be surprised either way because 1) Jackson doesn't have the deep political ties of Kemp and 2) Jones has shown us who he is--an ideologue.
I think we're judging Kemp here with the benefit of hindsight. He was Secretary of State while running for governor and worked tirelessly to undermine the election away from Leader Abrams. He campaigned solely on culture war issues (e.g., pointing a gun at a teenager trying to date his daughter).
I’ve been using direct certification in Georgia because of how important school-level information is
Jason Esteves stands alone with a solid-if-incomplete written plan that covers almost all facets of education. Honestly it feels like I'm a teacher who assigned modest homework and only Sen. Esteves turned in anything.
In the interest of equal time: Mike Thurmond has even less on his website, Geoff Duncan spills 3 times as much ink on being a former baseball player than his education plan, and all the Republicans think you can cut income taxes to zero and cap property taxes without the schools going bankrupt.
Here’s what the website for the leading democratic candidate for governor in Georgia has on education. What are we doing here folks. Let’s take this job seriously and tell the people what you intend to do since we only have 2 months till the election

You’re in her DMs, I’m making small adjustments to the windshield wiper speed to maximize a drop to swipe ratio without sacrificing visibility while she’s driving. We are not the same
The tone of this post at the beginning reminded me of 2020 tweets about the problematic origin of, say, eenie meenie miny moe. Expected it to end with “really disappointed that people are platforming this galaxy”
“More accolades are needed for this research”

Cities and schools are not powerless. Atlanta can improve supports for those facing eviction. The district can ease transfers and provide continuity of service even when a kid moves. But they're playing cards with a stacked deck, and the state has incredible leeway to lessen the crisis.
Few environmental factors are more disruptive to learning than housing instability. Atlanta doesn't have the power to raise minimum wage (because of preemption laws) or lower childcare costs (can't raise revenue through income tax to move the needle here because, again, preemption).
The other day a state senator took time to deride Atlanta's schools for low scores despite high funding. Articles like this help explain how state inaction (few housing protections, low minimum wage, no childcare supports) helps create the situation he mocked

Hmm. This will stick with me for a while. Ghoulish
But at least it’s also a huge bummer
Also I guess I should start crafting a "I undermined the rights of students with disabilities to seem more conservative in my governor run and all I got was this t-shirt" shirt for Chris Carr as my guy is DOA
Just took a look at polling and the fact that Bottoms (D) and Jones/Jackson (R) are the front runners of the election is making me question everything.

Why do I have to pretend that I'm going to print something in order to save it as a PDF. Why do I have to engage in a little ruse.
Greg why do you think Gov. Kemp is so bad at picking candidates?
Interesting! I had always heard that a lot of his solid political moves were due to his wife's instincts and connections. I think he's trying to find folks who are Trumpy enough without being too Trumpy and that's a really hard person to find in this climate in the Republican party.
Gov. Kemp is fascinating. He’s popular for being Trumpy (see: his initial run) but also for standing up to Trump (2020 election). He reads the winds well for himself (not running for senate rn) but can’t pick a good candidate to save his life (Loeffler and Dooley). www.ajc.com/politics/202...
It’s a Whiskey Friday with Tony Dokoupil miracle!
