AFSC endorses this nonviolent day of action to stand up for democracy and reject authoritarianism. We hope you can join us.

14.10.2025 17:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I actually think it would be a good thing if the liberal population of America had better and longer memories
14.10.2025 17:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If Republicans are going to label you a terrorist for peacefully protesting Trump's failing presidency, abuses of power, and treatment of blue America as an enemy nation, let's turn out in even bigger numbers.

It was more complicated than that. There are shelves and shelves of excellent history on the βtwisted road to Auschwitzβ.
Eg on just one fairly small issue (in comparison to the rest of this history), have a look at how the Nazis struggled with the Q of what to do with the Jewish veterans of WW1.
I would add that I enjoy alternative explanations, but Iβm skeptical of mono-causal explanations of any election, especially American elections. The truth is every election result is the product of a complex interaction of factors that delivers a multi-coloured collage of interests and motivations.
12.10.2025 18:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We cannot fight the far right until we acknowledge that the spread of ideas and beliefs is what drives voter behavior and other political decisions, and that we have created an information environment that is extraordinarily favorable to the far right
12.10.2025 15:45 β π 112 π 15 π¬ 6 π 0I was on the βguess it was surely inflationβ bandwagon in November last year, but I had worried before the election about the immersion in propaganda that looked even worse than 2020. This here is a compelling argument and one I am inclined to believe - but Iβd like more research.
