It was more complicated than that. There are shelves and shelves of excellent history on the “twisted road to Auschwitz”.

Eg on just one fairly small issue (in comparison to the rest of this history), have a look at how the Nazis struggled with the Q of what to do with the Jewish veterans of WW1.

I would add that I enjoy alternative explanations, but I’m skeptical of mono-causal explanations of any election, especially American elections. The truth is every election result is the product of a complex interaction of factors that delivers a multi-coloured collage of interests and motivations.
