I have aphantasia, so it helps to "feel" a level more than visualize one. I try to imagine play patterns, driving lines, that sort of arena shooter flow state where you have your movement path and several "get away" escape routes in the back pocket. Maybe a rough loop or figure 8 to build around.

Creating a moodboard helps somewhat. I can get a feel for colors and shapes and driveable spaces.

Currently working on a vegas-esque enterainment district, for example. It should have a ferris wheel, fountain ponds a casino, and a nightclub. But how should it be laid out? What are the firing lines? Is it a strip or a city block?

Making battlegrounds is hard. I need to have a fun driving flow, several pickup routes, navigable AI space, and interesting landmarks for navigation.

It is a challenge for sure.
