Very honored to have been selected as the member spotlight for CARRA this month.
This organization played a very important role in my training, and gave me great opportunities. I’m very glad to be an active part of it 😊

Hemophagocyticlymphohistiocytosis
Might be secondary or its own diagnosis
Could be cancer, lupus, Still’s, infection- even ehrlichiosis!
It’s hemophagocyticlymphohistiocytosis!
(7/7)
And don’t forget to check the belly for a large spleen
The CNS can hide inflammation from within
The rash can give some clues so don’t forget the skin
And when in doubt you can always shout: let’s just send the genes!
*Chorus*
(6/7)
Inside the bone marrow you find a hungry macrophage
The soluble IL-2 is way too high for patient’s age
Triglycerides came for the ride and also start to raise
The NK cells went on a strike and won’t stop this parade!
*Chorus*
(5/7)
When platelets just keep dropping when the patient is inflamed
The ESR decreased but CRP remains the same
The LFTs are rising and fibrinogen has tanked
You should send a ferritin and you might change the game!
*Chorus*
(4/7)
Your patient that is just too sick and won’t come off the vent
The sepsis that’s not improving while on pip, tazo and vanc
The fever that you still can’t figure out from where it came
You know what you’ll be looking for on labs at 4 am
*Chorus*
(3/7)
Chorus:
Hemophagocyticlymphohistiocytosis
You don’t want to be the one to miss this diagnosis
High ferritin that’s not from blood transfusion or cirrhosis
It’s hemophagocyticlymphohistiocytosis (2/7)
By popular request, posting here as well the lyrics for HLH by Mary Poppins (with an added verse) (1/7)
Oh, it should become a Christmas classic! 😄
I’ll post it here as well =)
So awesome! A new therapy for Sjogren’s that actually improved fatigue and dryness!
#ACR24
Oh, wow! Are we moving towards an off the shelf car T cell therapy?
Year in review at #ACR24
Can’t wait for this session!
#ACR24!
I have so much admiration for people who continue to do great research even without the privileges of the resources I have here. It fills me with pure joy to see them recognized in an international stage, even though the playing field is so unequal. May they keep shining bright ⭐️
Now I have the luxury to sequence every patient I see. I have large cohorts of patients with genomic data. I have protected time for research.
I feel very grateful for the opportunities I was given here. 3/
One of the reasons I came to the US was because I wanted to pursue research that was difficult to do in Brazil due to limited resources.
I remember a time when we had to choose one patient a month in the entire hospital to send a whole exome sequencing. 2/
I can’t begin to describe how much it filled me with joy to see Dr. Eloisa Bonfa receive the #ACR master designation.
Seeing a great clinician and investigator from Brazil show up in that stage; and even more: being from my home institution of USP, words can’t describe. 🇧🇷

Don’t miss out our poster tomorrow!
A systematic review on the currently collected data in #sJIA and #Stills.
A joint effort from @carrainc and #PReS to develop a core set of outcomes to be used on research going forward! 😄

OMG! Did you all see that the #ACR24 app has a way to show the path from where you are to the room you are looking for??
It’s the dream for geographically impaired people like me!
I’m loving this app! ❤️
