Your daily reminder that the U.S. Postal SERVICE is a service that is designed to benefit taxpayers and not a business that should be expected to turn a profit.

There's actually a bunch of families whose kids were injured and even killed by raw milk and if i were an editor I might try to interview them right now.

At this juncture I’d like to point out:
* we’re on the brink of a golden age of medical healing
* there’s enough money in the world to solve every problem in the world
* a united approach could stop the climate crisis
But a small group of sociopaths seeking personal power are going to throw it away.

$9 billion a year for NSF is absolute chump change. It's nothing. And yet, cutting it will devastate American science for decades.

God, we're led by a morons, empowered by idiots.

Snark aside, I'm honestly baffled. I know I show my naïveté daily, but aren't even most rich, powerful people concerned about food safety? Seems like you'd have to be Zuck or Bezos rich to be safe(ish). Not state politician or large landowner rich. Don't these folks buy groceries like everyone else?

Before press came in — but while live feed was running on Bukele’s feed — Trump said to him: “home-growns are next. … You’re gonna need to build about 5 more places.”

Well, that’s a new one. I have 440k lifetime miles with American Airlines and they just involuntarily denied me boarding because of a weight restriction. Fun!

“.. The new tariff regime is not reciprocal to anything, but instead is retaliatory in proportion to how big a surplus in goods trade a country happens to have with the US. This chart from @exante.bsky.social illustrates it beautifully.”

Photo with text that says;

Fossil fuels vs. renewable energy
Fossil fuels
• Emit greenhouse gases and damage ecosystems.
• Require ongoing extraction and are non-reusable.
Renewable energy
• Need only a one-time supply of minerals.
• Minerals can be recycled, reducing future mining.
• Net reduction in mining as fossil fuel use declines.

Would love to hear an affirmative & persuasive theory from Republicans of how the US can maintain leadership on research, technology & development in a way that does not operate through universities

Because right now I do not see it!

Measles death of unvaccinated child in Texas outbreak is 1st fatality in US in a decade An unvaccinated school-aged child in Texas has died of measles, the first associated with an outbreak that has infected more than 100 people.

This news truly breaks my heart.

We are calling on HHS to take immediate action. Secretary Kennedy needs to bring back weekly measles tracking from the CDC, rehire the health experts, and roll out a serious vaccine campaign. Our kids' safety is on the line!

Without a robust and functional Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control, Food and Drug Administration, Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services, and more, new cancer cures don’t get found, don’t get tested, and don’t make it to you and me.

Column | Why you should worry less about ultra-processed foods What makes foods so easy to overeat isn’t the level of processing — it’s the density of calories, a.k.a. energy density.

New evidence in the Ultra-Processed Food #UPF debate confirms that the main culprit is #EnergyDensity, and not the amount of processing. This is not news to many, as Energy Density was first implicated in overconsumption over 25 years ago!
