I am OK Geoff. It’s a lot worse in the south west of France. Worst flooding in decades. I don’t go out much and I live on the second floor so I think I won’t need a boat for the moment… 😉

Yes, it was like a chowder. I had some very good frozen mussels from Picard and frankly, you couldn’t tell the difference with fresh ones

I’ve been lucky. I’ve used just the right amount of Madras curry powder so it tastes interesting but you also get all the other flavours: the richness of the Isigny cream, the iodised ocean note of the mussels, the fruity tang of the wine.
It was fun…

I used a dry white wine. Poured all the ingredients but the crème fraîche in a big pan, added the mussels when it started to boil, let them simmer for a few minutes, added the crème fraiche. And voilà! 😁

The chef was tired, almost left it for tomorrow, then decided he was hungry enough to spend 15 minutes cooking 😂
The chef has no regrets, au contraire… 😊

Took ten minutes: except peeling the garlic cloves and crushing them, almost no preparation. It was delicious with the saffron rice… 😋

Tonight’s menu:

“Mouclade”

Mussels with white whine, garlic, crème fraîche, curry powder mostly.

Served with a delicious saffron basmati rice.

I find it a bit sad when people don’t pay attention to presentation of something they’ve made, which looks amazing, took a lot of effort, but would look 200% better with the right framing, cropping, and a little adjustment of colours.

It was quite good 😊

Of course it was too much but since I’ve had no appetite all day, I finished it off…

The Roquefort sauce was supposed to have only two ingredients: crème fraîche and Roquefort. But I read you could enhance it with a bit of mustard and a fried shallot. That’s what I did… 😋
