This puts me at 10 people released. I filed my 1st habeas petition 29 days ago. I am an incredibly small-time, nobody lawyer who knew nothing about immigration law the day I submitted that case. I barely know any more today. I had never sued the federal government and now I've beaten them 10 times.
The Iran War is costing $11,000 per SECOND but tell me again how we can't afford healthcare.
We're literally spending a billion dollars per day on murdering children but I'm supposed to believe we can't fix homelessness.
NEWS: It was never about the children.
Transgender adults now face care restrictions after the ruling of the federal appeals court in Richmond, Virginia.

Josette Maskin engaged… just fell to my knees
85% of those who hold side jobs do that work during the school year, not just over breaks, according to the new Gallup survey done in partnership with the Bipartisan Policy Center and the Walton Family Foundation.
i’m tired of every paper (even critical ones) on societal impact of AI starting by both-siding the “benefits” and risks/harms of AI
in academia, i would like us to arrive at a collective reckoning that we don’t need to play both sides. it's totally legit to clearly state just the harms. period
I love to see the growing number of Black-led organizations improving access to the outdoors. Everyone deserves nature in their lives.
the epidemic of men launching podcasts about nothing has gotten out of control
to combat this I am launching a podcast WITH A WOMAN (veteran climate journalist Tracy Wholf) to talk about stuff that actually matters (the planet being destroyed by the worst people alive)

The way that the belief that all white people have a role to play in confronting the scourge of anti-Black has disappeared from discourse
Nasty business
The way so many people on this app are boldly declaring that a white man doesn’t have to empathize or show solidarity with Black men because he is disabled
Nasty business
JD Vance personally invited Pope Leo to the U.S. 250th celebration on the 4th of July. Today the Vatican announced Leo will be spending the day with migrants instead.
I've been saying it a lot, but these deaths line up with what happened in early concentration camps during other regimes: Deaths from poor conditions, disease, or abuse. These deaths are not accidental. They are the direct result of a camp system that is designed to harm those being imprisoned.
EXCLUSIVE: ICE officials knew use of force was rising well before the Minneapolis shootings.
Internal agency emails show a surge in reports of ICE officers using more force going back nearly a year, but DHS leadership didn't see it as a concern to be addressed.
My feelings about generative AI:
1) I'm highly skeptical it'll ever work
2) It's distracting from actual use cases for AI
3) We need a pause until it can be done without wrecking the environment or stealing IP
4) If it does have real potential then it shouldn't be controlled by ruthless people

The risks of SARS-CoV-2 and other airborne pathogens can be severe, but the media continues to stigmatize Olympians taking precautions as "worried" and "extreme". We know #LongCOVID can affect anyone, even elite athletes.

Axios reports @governorwalz.mn.gov won’t call an eviction moratorium because it is “legally fraught” yet the definition sure sounds like one. www.mprnews.org/story/2023/0...
Trauma Brain will try to tell you today that since this life isn't what you expected or what you wanted, there's "no point" in trying to change or improve or save it.
What bullsh*t.
Breathe; blink; focus; & look for the next recovery supporting micro choice.
I keep seeing posts going "when ICE comes to MY city, we'll be out in the streets even harder" and man, I get that sentiment but I need everyone to understand that the work in Minneapolis is partly confrontational but MORE IMPORTANTLY aaallll the stuff organized in the background to help neighbors
This man was bullied, humiliated and robbed by ice and is too traumatized to work. He's a citizen and they told him "when your citizenship is revoked we'll be back to get you." They're still at $10
Hey❤️ I'm asking for support as a black unemployed single mom to get this goal met or just to get some meals for the week for my son and I.
Right now it's at 50/$3000

Even in death, some lives are less valued.
Students, who have been among the tens of thousands resisting terror in Minnesota, have called for a nationwide shutdown on Friday, January 30.
No school.
No work.
No shopping.
The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”
That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.
Indiana is building a death camp. Talk about Indiana. Keep talking about Minnesota. Keep talking about all of it. As Republicans are invading blue states, they are ramping up their ethnic cleansing in red ones.

Begging you not to let Wael’s Tarabishi’s story get lost amidst all the horrors.
He was a 30 year old disabled man. His dad was his full time caregiver.
ICE took his dad away.
Wael said it would kill him. He said the fear was “real & immediate”.
He died last week. ICE killed Wael.
There are so many knock-on effects of degrading US regulatory standards, which will inevitably drive down standards everywhere else. I don't know about you, but I want the next plane I get on to be a lot better than "good enough".
What I'm talking about, and what non-white people have been talking about for a very long time, is how it's only when white people start getting hurt or dying that people start to be characterized as "heroes" and "martyrs".
The thousands of people dying and developing long term complications from preventable diseases like the flu and COVID is also state violence.
