As someone who went on the Internet for the first time in the early 90’s, I fucking loved the Internet. It has given so many things in life, and afforded me so many incredible experiences.
And to see it, and technology in general where they are today is kinda soul crushing.
I'm best known for making fun of Cabbage Patch Dolls on VH1 and I knew they were going to fucking close the strait.

What’s absurd is that it isn’t even a special image. Stock photo sites are full of actual photos of people sitting in coffee shops.
This is also why engaging with comments is pointless, as is pretending that "outrage" as measured in comments is a useful metric. Yet all of the algorithms are still designed to measure engagement this way, and using these signals to serve you (mis) information.
