Luckily one of the wizards had declared web as his spell saving the cleric and grounding the griffin. For random encounters these all stuck in my head afterwards with how tense and real they felt.

Of course there was the griffin fight. Coming from above the griffin came barrelling down towards one of the horses looking for a meal, fireball declared etc, griffin wins initiative and lands all 3 blows on the cleric rider lifting him into the air, now they need adjust the targeting on that spell.
