Dear Friends - I have a full-time job. But it’s precarious. I don’t need to tell you what looking for work is like these days. If I lose my job, my only medium-term option will be to return to writing full-time, both as RN and under my own name @wychstreet. Many of you have stuck with RN as paid subscribers, and my gratitude knows no bounds. Your material support keeps the lights on, and your psychic support goes further. As you’ve heard me explain, RN has fallen off regular columns for several reasons, beginning with our current regime defies rational analysis. In any case, I apologize for it. If I return to full-time writing I’d expand RN’s newsletter to include regular columns about history (not just his), baseball, etc. You could also expect RN’s analysis to heat up with the coming elections. I’d also start a separate newsletter under my own name, which would discuss theatre, film, music, etc. Some of you are familiar with my writing in this area. You could expect new words at least five days a week. Nothing is set up yet. I’m simply putting my finger in the wind. If you don’t already subscribe, please respond if you might be interested. In historical -- not cultural -- terms, MO wasn't part of the old Northwest Territory and, indeed, was a slave state that became part of the Confederacy. PA and NY weren't part of the Old Northwest Territory either, and were settled well before parts Westward and governed by Eastern capitals.
