Shaping up for a leg side hoick by the look of it. The camel at deep midwicket is quite quick across the ground but doesn’t have much of an arm on it.

Great book, very funny. Have had a copy for years, given to me by my aunt because when I visited as a child I was usually engrossed in it.

Was WG a smoker or a non-smoker?

Full disclosure, I took these in colour. But with the thought that they’d probably look better in B&W, which brings out the texture on the stonework.
