But I'm not great at making it connect with a broad audience, and (clearly) I struggle to be concise. I don't think it's anything deep, just related-but-separate skills. /2

I'm not entirely sure.. I feel like these are both components of it, and maybe different styles and genres weight them differently. I write technical literature okay, I can write to clarify complicated technical concepts for a technical audience

Right, I fully agree, I'm just outlining what I think their argument will be. I'm also no lawyer, but it seems entirely lawless to me

Oh, definitely. Their opinion is that has no bearing on their right to invade the 'common' space and search for supposed 'illegals'. It's a totally invalid legal principle, but it's in line with how this administration thinks. And rhymes with the way most LEOs practice the law

The DHS is absolutely going to argue the 4th doesn't apply to noncitizens. It does, nearly all constitutional rights apply in full or partial measure to anyone in the country except invaders, largely because the founders didn't have the concept of 'foreigners' as a category to be treated differently

A clipped screenshot of a McDonald's mobile order receipt. It shows a $6 Mc Double Meal Deal, and lists 1,125,000 calories.

Look, I knew fast food wasn't all that healthy, but this is insane!

The peanut butter brand was exactly the joke being made - Jif's slogan has been "Choosy moms choose Jif" for decades (sometimes kids or dads or she combination)... The original GIF spec had "Choosy devs choose GIF" as a tagline under the title

Pay our debts, and our military ensures the structure of the government that makes that happen will remain despite whatever else happens.

There's no way to claim we have an accurate accounting of the spend. A dollar is worth anything because the government requires payment of taxes, and the whole economic system hangs on that being true for all fiat currencies. Other countries like our debt because the Constitution obligates us to 2/

It's just not how it works. Every payment to the us government decreases the nominal debt, and every payment from the government increases it. At Treasury they notionally keep track, but because of secret programs and unauthorized spend (which Trump has done magnitudes more then any prez before) 1/

Yeah, he's talking about REAL ID, which requires a black or gold star. Calling it yellow is probably a dogwhistle. I'd ordinarily attribute this kind of thing to incompetence or stupidity, but on Fox News? Thoroughly lost the benefit of the doubt from me.

See, the thing here is that changing the house apportionment is 'merely' a law, much like supreme court size. Whereas 3 senators def requires an amendment. I think 3 senators is obviously a better setup, but I very much doubt admt ratification, while forcing thru house size is simple majorities

They do have to *live there*, and they're elected by people who know them.
As an aside this is a big part of why the House is so worthless now: 700k people is not a group you can have effective bottom-up communication from. We should have at least 2k reps in the House 2/2

I feel like 3️⃣ here is really the thing. The culture of American policing is atrocious, but most of them still believe they're good enforcers of the law and understand that ultimately the people where they live adjudicate that. Local electeds tend to be responsive because 1/

Chips challenge will undoubtedly be superior to whatever this next thing is. I won't go "the perfect game" - but maybe "a masterpiece"

We really can't win for losing, can we? Maybe if we tried not being stupid, as a nation. That'd be a good first step.

The bit here is Jamelle posted this a few days ago, and people are big mad. As you say, he does both, and being published in the NYT has a *bit* more reach and impact than the average social media post

The implication was that he's insecure about his height and compensates by trying to be 'masculine' (but is just an asshole)
