I do my best not to engage with them. Having a dialogue means agreeing to disagree. When the other person calls you evil for just existing, there can be no middle ground.

Religious freedom used to mean you are free to practice or not practice the religion of your choice. Now it means you are only free if you are the right kind of Christian (that being one who ignores all the teachings of Christ) (5/ )

Freedom used to mean being free. To modern "conservatives" it means not having to contend with anyone who is not white and male. (4/ )

Moderate used to mean someone who straddled the line between liberal and conservative. Now it means someone who favors a small, laissez faire type government. (3/ )

Anyone old enough to remember the 1990s might recall when right wing media figures (like Rush Limbaugh) & politicians (like Newt Gingrich) started singing the praises of Vladimir Putin. The GOP is riddled with Russian assets. The whole organization is the enemy of the American people.

I think the most hopeful news I came across this week was that the new Air Force 1 will be made by Boeing.

The Pew Research political typology quiz pegs me as a "liberal libertarian" though I consider myself more of a democratic socialist. I've figured out that telling conservatives I'm a libertarian makes them trust me a whole lot more than if I copped to being a socialist.
